![]() ![]() They just end up being expensive door props for the lads. I have seen many come and go off many job sites and have yet to see a decent edgers with a life span past a couple hours, if that. I think all these edgers on the market today are a complete waste of $$$. When painting the ceiling and walls, you want to keep a 'wet edge.' This means that the 'cut in' sections of paint need to stay wet and not dry before you go back in vertically with your roller. Makes cutting a straight line much easier. Dip you roller in paint and move your roller in a vertical motion, going from the top of your walls to the bottom. As for outlets, switch covers and baseboardsremove them. I find its easier to get that nice new crisp line where base and trim meets the substrate. Allow the patches to dry completely and then sand them smooth. As with older homes if the baseboard and trim are rough we run a line of tape above the base against the wall, caulk and pull the tape immediately. One or two room small jobs I usually toss the masking out the window as most likely the edges are still somewhat tacky.ĭuring our prep we fill and caulk everything after our first complete sanding. For the sake of 5 minutes to tape off the base, compared to the extra time I need to be bent over on my knees cutting a straight line, I prefer to mask base. If it is a larger project then we will use tape and paper to mask off the base and in some cases the trim once it has dried. ![]() Prep all areas then start with finishing ceilings, spray casings, baseboard and trim followed by walls and doors (if the doors were not removed and sprayed).
